From outsiders to makers.
November 2023, University of Amsterdam. An engineer, a marketeer and a project manager share one storage room and one desktop printer. None of us holds a design-school diploma.
Our question was simple: why should design be mass-produced or priced for the lucky few?
We pooled a student grant, started printing one lamp at a time and proved that freedom, sustainability and craft can begin on a shoestring. Those late nights became Beyond Bounds.
The material
Sustainable by design.
We choose polymers and fibres that feel warm in the hand and sit light on the planet, while doing the most to increase lifespan of all our materials.
Our primary filament is PLA made from corn and sugar, renewable and low-impact.
We add recycled PET-G wherever performance allows, cutting virgin plastic.
Faulty prints and support materials is saved and sent back to our manufacturer for a new lifetime.
The craft
Blending innovation with craftsmanship to build lighting that is personal and lasts a lifetime.
Every lamp is made only after you order in our studio, so nothing is produced to sit on the shelves.
Edges are sanded, cords fitted, and surfaces sealed by our team in the canal-side studio.
An NFC tag under the base links to a digital passport with date, colours and unique edition number.
